CRESIRE collaborated with an engineering and laser surveying company based in Istanbul, Turkey, to develop an LOD 350 BIM model of a chemical plant. The scope of work included modeling key plant components such as chemical equipment, flanges, valves, piping, and steel structure of Ground + 6 floors.

The client provided point cloud data in e57 format and360-degree images to support the modeling process. While the point cloud data quality was average, the additional 360-degree images were crucial in ensuring accuracy.

CRESIRE successfully delivered the initial BIM model within three business weeks. However, based on feedback from the client’s end customer, additional refinements and modifications were required. Our team efficiently incorporated the necessary revisions and provided the final updated model within one week.

Project Challenges

1. Limited Scan Quality

  • Some areas of the plant had low scan resolution, making it difficult to model certain elements with high precision.
  • Solution: Our team leveraged the 360-degree images provided by the client to accurately interpret and model the missing details.

2. High Precision Requirement

  • The client required a highly detailed BIM model with a precise representation of plant equipment, including piping, valves, and flanges, despite the average scan quality.
  • Solution: Our BIM specialists meticulously analyzed the point cloud data and supplemented it with reference images to ensure maximum accuracy in modeling.

3. Tight Revision Timeline

  • The client requested additional modifications after the initial delivery, requiring a quick turnaround within one week.
  • Solution: CRESIRE’s team dedicated extra resources to efficiently implement the requested changes and successfully delivered the final revised model within the stipulated timeframe.

Conclusion

Through effective collaboration and technical expertise, CRESIRE successfully delivered a precise and high-quality LOD 350 BIM model of the chemical plant.

Despite challenges such as scan limitations and time constraints, our team ensured timely delivery and client satisfaction by leveraging 360-degree imagery and strategic modeling techniques. This project highlights CRESIRE’s commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and client-centric solutions in the Scan-to-BIM industry.
